Why pennies in pocket?
Even at just three years old, I remember my father coming home from his full time job to change for his college classes. He paid every bill on time but my mother shared with me that they could hardly afford milk. Growing up on Saturdays morning at sunrise, I awoke to my mothers back tickle. I was excited to go to the weekend yard sales to get a few new Lisa frank school supplies. From a very young age, I thrived on new ideas and ways to improve my little dream businesses. We cut coupons on Sundays and never looked anywhere else but the clearance racks. What a powerful lesson I learned as such a young girl. I babysat on weekends to purchase that $88 bike from Walmart & saved every penny to get a new shirt from Kohls. My father taught me how to budget. When I began college, I had a goal to not go a penny in debt. I would would work 5 jobs if I had to during the summer and I would tutor or work during school just to be able to get by. But what happens when you love clothes, antiques, making things, technology, products & good food but need to keep your costs low...? Keep a penny in your pocket. I am so happy to have gone trough 4 years of college and 18 months of a mission in Chile- and not had to go into debt. So cheers to a fun affordable lifestyle.
